The game rules are quite simple to learn, each player in the game is called a Summoner, and as a Summoner you take control of a Champion, throughout the game your Champion gains experience in combat, allowing be leveled up to be stronger. The Champion can be upgraded with gear during the game (these items will increase the Champion's stats such as: Health, Mana, Attack Power, Speed etc.), this can be done by collecting gold and then spending it on various items.
The game's main objective to winning is to destroy the opposing teams Nexus. Players are formed into 2 even teams, each team has a base with a Spawning pool, A Nexus, Inhibitors and a series of Defence Turrets. Each team also has Minions, these are NPCs that automatically spawn and attack the opponents base. Players must work together to break through the opponents defenses and destroy their Nexus to win the game.
Every time you complete a game (win or lose), you as a Summoner gain 'Influence Points' and 'Experience Points', where you will level up and gain 'Mastery Points' (similar to Talents in other RPG games) where you can assign these points to upgrade your Champion. In addition your 'Influence Points' can be spent to unlock additional Champions and purchase 'Runes' to further upgrade your Champion's stats.
